On the Hospital Merger

Here is the web address for today's Daily Freeman's editorial on the agreement between Benedictine and Kingston Hospitals to keep providing abortions :http://www.dailyfreeman.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=19051438&BRD=1769&PAG=461&dept_id=82701&rfi=6

But the crux is that this merger/alliance is supposed to be one that will save money and be fiscally sound as it provides services to the community...the editorial asks for the fiscal information so that we will be able to judge this.

Interestingly, the hot button term abortion is used in the title of this news article - "Kingston gets plan for abortion clinic." The new building will not only house ambulatory services but reproduction and health services for men AND women. That means vasectomies as well as tubal litigation as well as abortions, adminstration of the morning after pill, etc.

Benedictine's Catholic doctrine finds all of the above services immoral. And the Catholic church still finds contraceptives ambiguously immoral.

When will we be able to accept the fact that men and women have the right of privacy and self-determination over their own bodies?
