Johnny Got His Gun, Dalton Trumbo

This is our book group reading for our meeting this Thursday (May 3) at 7. We picked this book as one which had been influential when we were young--it was one of the first anti-war books I read during the Viet Nam Conflict. It was originally published in 1939. This book is extrememly relevant now as our solidiers return home from Iraq, Afghanistan or one of the 30+ other countries we have forces in. Our war on terror sent troops off with out proper equipment including armor. Many of these men and women are returning home with wounds--physical and mental. We need to pay adequate attention to these veterans--providing adequate medical care, rehabilitation and re-entry into civilian life. We need to hold the government responsible for their care.

An instructive post. People to really know who they want to reach and why or else, they'll have no way to know what they're trying to achieve. People need to hear this and have it drilled in their brains..
